One of the things I love most is making delicious food for family and friends! So when my brother, Mike, requested the recipe for my Spicy Roasted Broccoli, I knew it had to make it to the blog.
This is a simple side dish that pairs well with just about anything from fish to steak. Buying pre-cut broccoli makes for even quicker prep. All of the other ingredients are pantry staples, so it’s great for last minute suppers.
Spicy Roasted Broccoli
- One large broccoli stalk (about 3/4 of a pound) or pre-cut bagged broccoli (Trader Joe’s sells a 12 ounce bag of organic broccoli florets)
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- 1 Tablespoon of the fat of your choice (I used melted bacon fat for this recipe pictured here, but have also used olive oil or melted butter)
What to do:
Pre-heat the oven to 400 degrees.
Cut the broccoli into small florets. If you choose to use bagged florets, just cut the large ones down so that all the pieces are around the same size. Line a baking sheet with foil and spread the broccoli onto the sheet. Sprinkle with the sea salt, black pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes. Pour the fat or oil over the broccoli and use a rubber scraper the toss the broccoli in the oil, evenly coating it.
Place the baking sheet into the oven for 10 minutes. Remove from the oven and stir the broccoli around, flipping the pieces over to ensure even browning. Return the baking sheet to the oven for another 10 minutes.
There you have it – Spicy Roasted Broccoli. Quick and delicious! Enjoy!
