Raise your hand if you are a Chai tea fan. Me, too! I love a warm cup of Chai, not only for the amazing flavors, but for the delicious smell too. I absolutely love the spice blend that makes up a warm cup of Chai tea. So why keep those beautiful spices just for tea? Today I’m sharing how to make Homemade Chai Spice Blend. It’s easy to make and can be used to spice up everything from muffins to smoothies.
I use five different spices to make up this blend: cinnamon, ginger, allspice, cloves, and cardamom. I prefer a stronger cinnamon and ginger flavor, so I use more of those in this blend. Feel free to play around with the amount of spices used to find the blend that best suits your taste.
I recently posted a recipe for Chai Spice Granola. Subbing out those spices and using this spice blend instead is a great option! I also love adding a little of this spice to the occasional cup of coffee or hot chocolate. It’s also fun to use it in place of cinnamon in your favorite muffin or smoothie recipe! Be creative, this homemade chai spice blend fits perfectly into just about any recipe that calls for cinnamon.
